New Attitude ‘08 Messages

What is New Attitude?

New Attitude began when Joshua Harris felt a call to equip his generation with biblical truth they could take back to their local churches. In 2004 the New Attitude conference ended so that Josh could become the senior pastor of Covenant Life Church. But a concept was emerging out of our experience in local churches. Truth. Lived out. With humility. An old idea with a new name: humble orthodoxy. New Attitude returned - this time led by Eric Simmons - and driven by the concept of humble orthodoxy.

Na exists now to help Christians believe, live, and represent the truth with humility. We do this in two ways: the big annual conference and the ongoing conversation here on the website. We haven’t swerved from Josh’s passion to equip members of local churches - Na itself is grounded in the churches of Sovereign Grace Ministries. In both the conference and website our goal remains the same: to equip people and point them back to their own local church communities.

What about New Attitude?

They just wrapped up their 2008 conference themed around the word of God. The theme verse was Jeremiah 15:16

Your words were found, and I ate them, and your words became to me a joy and the delight to my heart.

The messages from this conference have just been posted up. So far these messages have grounded me and given me new insight into the word of God. I highly recommend to listen to them when you have some free time.

What is your reading list this summer?

20 May 2008 In: For Fun, Prayer Requests

Summer is here. (or almost here for some).

While there can be plenty to do in the summer ranging from short-term missions and sleeping in until noon, it is my recommendation and prayer that everyone would take some time to pick up a book this summer and read. Discerning reader has just published some tips on how to pick books and read them. (Al Mohler has some tips on reading as well).

If any book at all, I sincerely pray that you would immerse yourself in the bible. Take this summer as opportunity to refresh and remind yourself of God’s perfect word.

Let us therefore strive to enter that rest, so that no one may fall by the same sort of disobedience. For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

-Hebrews 4:11,12 (ESV)

Stephen Altrogge from The Blazing Center has written some great tips of simple bible reading.

With that said, here is my reading list for this summer:

  • Culture Shift: Engaging Current Issues with Timeless Truth (Today’s Critical Concerns) by R. Albert Mohler
  • In My Place Condemned He Stood: Celebrating the Glory of the Atonement by J.I. Packer and Mark Dever
  • The Discipline of Spiritual Discernment by Tim Challies
  • The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian by C.S. Lewis

What is your reading list for this summer?

Here are some responses from the blog-o-sphere:

John MacArthur - “God’s Plan for the Gay Agenda”

God’s plan for many homosexuals is that they come to salvation. There were former homosexuals in the Corinthian church back in Paul’s day, just as there are many former homosexuals today in my church and in faithful churches around the country. With regenerated hearts, they sit in biblical churches throughout the country praising their Savior, along with former fornicators, idolaters, adulterers, thieves, coveters, drunkards, revilers, and swindlers. Remember, such were some of you too.

Albert Mohler - “California Supreme Court Redefines Marriage”

Unless stayed by another court, the ruling takes effect in 30 days, when California authorities will be required to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. California voters will have another opportunity to protect marriage in November, when a proposed constitutional amendment will come before the electorate. The stakes now could not be higher.

Abraham Piper - “Gay marriage is more than a speck, but there’s definitely a log in our heterosexual eyes.”

Fighting gay marriage like it’s killing civilization seems inconsistent amid cultural curses like adultery, groundless divorce, and pornography—all hetero and legal.

Jeff Robinson - “California Ruling on Gay Marriage is Revolutionary and Radical”

Scripture is unambiguous regarding the place of honor that marriage-as defined by holy writ-must hold within the city of man among those whose future hope lies in the City of God: “Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.” (Heb 13:4)

Fellowship This Week 5/15

13 May 2008 In: Announcements

Hello my fellow sojourning comrades.

This season we the college Fellowship will be going over the book of Psalms. In doing so we hope by the power of God and through the Holy spirit to receive in-site on How God used our dear brothers before us to bring Glory on to Himself. True examples of what it means to Worship God with our Lives. Hopefully through the daily nourishments of the word, meditation, repentance, prayer of petition with thanksgiving and obedience/faithfulness to Gods Word will God help us stand Firm. And bring us on to the same Glory that we have witnessed from those who walked before us.

This week we have the pleasure of receiving Gods word from our dear brother Wensen (Vincent Mak). He will be going over psalms 103! How exciting! Don’t you just wanna hurry and read it before Thursday! In other words prepare your hearts to receive food that sustains!

Welcome!

Psalm 100

Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth!
Serve the LORD with gladness!
Come into his presence with singing!

Know that the LORD, he is God!
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
and his courts with praise!
Give thanks to him; bless his name!

For the LORD is good;
his steadfast love endures forever,
and his faithfulness to all generations.
